N-The Spotlight

Brandi Harden

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Sophomore, Advertising

My reason for joining NCNW-TU can only be expressed by this quote "I refuse to join any clubs that would have me as a member" - Groucho Marx. NCNW is so much more; support, sisterhood, and inspiration. Never have I felt like JUST a member.

Sophomore, Kinesiology-Exercise and Sport Science

NCNW has been one of the first organizations that I joined on campus that I immediately felt welcomed. To me, the organization itself, as well as the members and e-board, exemplifies everything that a modern day black woman needs to be. NCNW is more than just an org to me, it's a family and I can honestly say I have grown to love each and every one of my N-sisters.

In a time which Black women are still one of the most unsupported minority groups, I wanted to find an organization that supports community service, empowerment, and sisterhood. NCNW-TU embodies every aspect of that and that is why I joined this great organization.

Marissa Williams

Sophomore, Marketing

I joined NCNW-TU because I loved the fact that it is an organization that uplifts women in the black community, and I just had to be apart of that.

Junior, Speech, Language, and Hearing

I joined NCNW, because of the great stories I heard about it and I wanted to be a part of that. I love how NCNW gets together to teach and discuss not only women but also men about issues that are happening in the community. It is great to see women especially women of the African-American community standing up and taking charge of the community that they are in and I'm glad that I become a part of that this year !

Sophomore, Early Childhood/Elementary Education

This is my first year at Temple University, and as a newly transferred student, I wanted to be involved in a club that was centered around community service and uplifting Black people. I was also drawn to this organization because of its acknowledgement of the leadership qualities of Black women. So far, I’ve enjoyed all of the programs that I have attended. I am looking forward to becoming more involved and getting to know all of the ladies of NCNW.
