Third Annual Tea Party October 24, 2013

 

The Third Annual “Hat’s Off to Dorothy Height” Tea Party was a huge success once again. On October 24th, family, friends, and members of the National Council of Negro Women, Temple Section came out in their best dressed and enjoyed a relaxing evening of high quality in the Underground of the Howard Gittis Student Center. Musical performances in the form of sweet serenades and smooth jazz were provided by Temple Gospel Ministries, general members were recognized by receiving official NCNW pins, and honor was paid to the former national president of NCNW, Dr. Dorothy Irene Height. NCNW, Temple Section would like to thank everyone who came out and supported!

 

6th Annual Walk to End Domestic Violence October 26, 2013

 

In conjunction with Temple’s Black Law Students Association, NCNW dedicated their service in helping out with the Domestic Violence Walk on October 26th. Members of the executive board helped in raising spirits for the runners and walkers who participated in the event. State Senator LeAnna Washington helped to organize the 5K race along with several other organizations, such as the local Latino organization Congresso.

 

The Avenue of the Treats October 31, 2013

Ghost, and Zombies, and Goblins! Oh, my!

 

October 31st marked an exciting day as the Beech Community Services celebrated Halloween by inviting neighborhood children to trick or treat safely from Broad Street to 18th and Cecil B. Moore Avenue. Children dressed up in their coolest costumes and enjoyed an evening of face painting, pumpkin painting, collecting candy, and touring the well put together haunted house. Many organization from Temple University lent a helping hand to make sure the event would be a pleasant and memorable one.

Last Program of the Fall Semester, November 21, 2013

 

Thanks to those of you who attend our last program of the semester. It was great to WERK out with those of you who came! Just to follow up, NCNW would like you guys to have the workout that we did for you records. The workout plan is attached to this email, as well as a video that Pretty Girls Sweat ambassador Joie Johnson-Walker recorded of us!

Happy Founders day to The National Council of Negro Women! In 1935, the extraordinary educator and political leader Mary McLeod Bethune founded NCNW and envisioned it to be an "organization of organizations" that would represent the national and international concerns of Black women. 78 years later, we continue to lead, develop and advocate for women of African descent as they support their families and communities.

Campus Safety Christmas Party, December 8, 2013

 

In an effort to spread cheer and well wishes, NCNW, TU participated in community service with the annual Campus Safety Christmas Party located at the Liacouras Center.
